SECURENET, LTD AND MAXWARE ESTABLISH PARTNERSHIP

New Professional Services Partner offers Strategic Directory Expertise and Experience

SecureNet, Ltd., leaders in providing superior Internet Security Solutions and Network Services Consulting, has entered a partnering agreement with MaXware International, the world’s leading provider of vendor-independent modular and scalable Meta solutions.

“By teaming up with MaXware, SecureNet will be able to deliver comprehensive, cutting-edge, enterprise-wide Meta solutions and provide directory management capabilities to our customers’ infrastructures,” says Kevin Jansen, President of SecureNet, LTD.

Organizations with intranets, businesses using the Internet and Internet Service Providers are all seeking directory-based infrastructure overlays, known as Meta solutions. These solutions seamlessly integrate disparate data repositories and implement rule-based and security-certificate access control.

“The MaXware Virtual Directory is a solution for federating multiple data stores without actually consolidating data.” The combination of their Meta and Virtual Directory Solutions allows us to bring customized solutions to the complex directory requirements of our global customers.”

The vendor-independent Enterprise Meta Solution (EMS) from MaXware enables organizations to integrate a complete Meta solution to the existing directory servers, databases and other data repositories across the enterprise. With EMS, organizations have a modular, flexible and scalable enterprise-wide solution, based on a true, distributed architecture. The EMS Virtual Directory with RealTime Data Access, when combined with the Data Synchronization Engine (DSE), form a complete Meta solution for the global enterprise.

MaXware Virtual Directory (MVD) makes a variety of different data sources appear as a single LDAP directory for all users in RealTime. MVD provides advanced proxy functions and secures access control to different data sources. The product also simplifies and improves administration of data sources. The main features are:

  • schema mapping, attribute name conversion, directory namespace conversion, differentiated size/time limits and character set mapping;high performance
  • powerful access control
  • external authentication mechanism
  • extensive configuration possibilities and statistics

Data sources that can be accessed from MVD include: LDAP servers, standard SQL databases (Oracle, Sybase, SQL Server, etc.) accessible using ODBC, OLE DB or other interfaces, files in a file system or any other data repository accessible through APIs.

“In an ideal world, organizations should be able to set up one central repository for all Meta information. However, for technical, political and security reasons, this is normally not possible,” says Elliott Friedman, Managing Director of MaXware Inc. “Most large organizations have a multitude of data repositories, in different formats and with a variety of interfaces. When the need for access to these data sources arises, this can be solved by using a Meta Solution such as MaXware EMS, where data is cleansed, synchronized and published, or the MaXware Virtual Directory that provides secure, real-time access to the data sources,” continues Friedman.

According to Friedman, MaXware helps enterprises implement a secure and controlled data access and management solution. Using EMS provides capabilities for management of mission-critical business information and fulfills the B2B and e-Commerce infrastructure challenge. MaXware is dedicated to provide true vendor-independent solutions that work seamlessly in the widest range of applications that rely on databases and directories.

“Our strategy is to work with quality partners who will bring added value to our software solutions world wide. SecureNet, LTD is the type of organization we feel compliments our software with their consulting and implementation expertise,” says Friedman.

The extensive set of modular, stand-alone components in MaXware’s Enterprise Meta Solution are compatible with legacy, in-house built, and industry-leading database and directory systems. MaXware solutions are effective, user-friendly and can access any number of directory servers simultaneously.

Typical directory management processes using the family of MaXware Enterprise Meta Solution components include: populating directories from various sources, “joining” attributes — for example, when a new employee is hired, synchronizing to keep data up-to-date on all server directories and data cleansing. On the desktop, linked by an intranet or the Internet, users easily obtain real-time access to mission-critical data, unaware of the access controls, security checks and information filtering built into the system.
